Info
Arviolta 200-300 ihmistä ilmaisi halunsa kannabistuotteiden
laillistamiseksi Turussa 6.5. pidetyssä värikkäässä ja rauhallisessa
mielenosoituksessa. Järjestäjät odottivat korkeintaan 100 rohkeaa
paikalle tähän ensimmäiseen Suomessa järjestettyyn julkiseen
mielenilmaukseen huumepolitiikan muuttamiseksi realistisempaan suuntaan.
Mielenosoitus lähti liikkeelle kello 14.00 Puolalanpuistosta, kiersi
pitkän lenkin keskustassa ja päätyi Vartiovuorelle rauhalliseksi
smoke-in tapahtumaksi kesäauringon paisteessa.
Kylteissä vaadittiin kannabista vapaaksi, mielipiteen vapautta Turun
Sanomien sensuroitua 3.5 uutisen mielenosoituksesta, pyydettiin ihmisiä
tutustumaan piippuun perjantaipullon sijaan, kerrottiin hampun
monikäyttöisyydestä jne. Mielenosoittajille tarkoitettu materiaali
levisikin suurelle yleisölle marssin aikana. Ihmiset ottivat hymyssä
suin vastaan heille tarjottuja monisteita. Risteyksiin pysähtyneistä
autoista liittyi lisää ihmisiä kulkueeseen. Erotuksena virallisesta
huumepolitiikasta Turun mielenosoitus oli pienellä budjetilla tehty
mutta hyvin positiivinen ilmapiiriltään.
Pysykää kanavalla, sillä kohta saadaan valokuvia tänne!

First ever public pro-cannabis demonstration in Finland was a popular
and very peacefull happening. With shoe string budget the arrangers, The
Green Panthers, cathered 200-300 people to participate into a peacefull
and colourfull demonstration through the center of Turku (160 000
inhabitants). The arrangers had expected maximum 100 brave to
participate and the free spirited atmosphere of people was a good
surprise in a country where official drug politics is fearfull and very
black and white.
The police was friendly and polite: when the crowd turned out to be too
big for the sidewalk the demonstration walked into the street and more
police forces come to stop the traffic. After the demonstration the
police let people go freely into the Vartiovuori park where there was a
peacefull smoke-in with music and ball games in warm sunshine.
Despite the total neglect of public media the word had spread from mouth
to mouth and also to other towns. Demonstration was low-fi and low
budget but very high-spirited and gave lots of ideas and encouragment
for the next year.
